VirtualCity @ Chalmers Sustainability Day 2018
This year’s Chalmers Sustainability Day takes place on October the 23rd, and we are happy to announce that our production team of VirtualCity@Chalmers will take part in the event.
The Chalmers Sustainability Day is open for students, employees and alumni of Chalmers University of Technology. It’s an annually recurring event with the purpose of highlighting, informing and educating on different matters regarding sustainability. As earlier, the event is based on one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (Agenda 2030) , and this year the focus is on goal #3 – Good health and well-being.
To increase and ensure the future good health of the inhabitants of our cities, we need to build cities that can deliver the prerequisites for people to live and stay healthy, which in turn will put high demands on the planning and building of our societies. In our project VirtualCity@Chalmers we are developing an interactive simulation tool, a dynamic 3D-platform which includes the possibility to integrate different models and data into the same, single platform. The tool is developed as a digital twin of the area in question, which will enable the simulation in advance of different choices in the planning and construction process, making it possible to test different alternatives and to make good quality and cost effective decisions in advance. At the moment we are working on the development of digital twins of the Chalmers campuses Johanneberg and Lindholmen, and with a next step to expand the project to developing a digital twin of the whole of the City of Gothenburg.
On the morning of the event, at 10 o’clock, Anders Logg, Professor at the Institution of mathematical sciences and the Director and leader of the Area of Advances Building Futures and the VirtualCity@Chalmers project, will give a speech on the project itself and the current status: A1. Digital twin of Chalmers campus. Location: One of the group rooms at the Chalmers Conference Centre, (follow signs on site for guidance).
Later the same day, between 12 and 3 o’clock pm, Anders and several more of our team members will be in our stand F7 in the foyer of the Chalmers Conference Centre, answering questions about the project and also sharing a first ever public interaction with the simulation tool VirtualCity@Chalmers.
